Vincent Amelio
AA from Gavilan 2011 Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley (Double Major)
While at Gavilan College Vincent played Orlando in As You Like It and Marcus Lycus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He also spent time working in film as the host of Arts 101, a local arts show produced by CMAP and Out and About Magazine. In between his school years at Gavilan he worked with Marilyn Abad-Cardinalli at Gavilan College as a staff leader and assistant-director at Summer Theater Arts Repertory. Vincent began his work in writing while at Gavilan, adapting Native American mythology into short plays for the Children’s Theater class. Vincent attained his B.A. in English Literature and Theater & Performance Studies from UC Berkeley. His undergraduate thesis "American Dreams and Nightmares: An Examination of the Western and Film Noir" received special commendation and his film "A Day in the Life" won awards at the Campus Movie Festival. Vincent currrently works for American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco as the School and Community Programs Coodinator.
Recently, in March of 2017 he coordinated the annual tour Will on Wheels, a collaboration between the Masters of Fine Arts Program and the Education Department. This show features the second year acting students in an abbreviated version of a play by Shakespeare. The 2017 tour was Romeo and Juliet and traveled to 15 schools and two community centers for a total of 17 performances, the production journeyed from San Francisco to San Lorenzo and even as far as Antioch reaching 3,200 people in eight Bay Area Cities.
